What this EU preset produces

The EU preset builds the nutrition information for a food supplement the way Directive 2002/46/EC Article 8 requires: amounts per recommended daily dose in numerical form, with vitamins and minerals also shown as %NRV. The Nutrient Reference Values come from Regulation (EU) 1169/2011, Annex XIII Part A. For example, vitamin C 80 mg is 100% NRV and vitamin D 10 µg is 200% NRV.

Particulars added for you

Article 6(3) of the Directive lists the particulars the label must carry. The generator adds statements with that content, and you can edit the wording, because the law prescribes what they must say, not the exact words:

  • The name “food supplement”.
  • The names of the categories of nutrients or substances that characterise the product.
  • The portion recommended for daily consumption.
  • A warning not to exceed the stated recommended daily dose.
  • A statement that food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet.
  • A statement that the product should be stored out of the reach of young children.

The label must not claim that the product prevents, treats or cures disease (Article 6(2)). Allergens from Annex II of Regulation 1169/2011 must be emphasised in the ingredient list (Article 21).

What it does not cover

Member states set their own rules on permitted forms, maximum amounts, notification and language. Check the country where you will sell, and have the final label reviewed.
