How this capsule preset differs

The capsule preset starts with 60 capsules per container and 1 capsule per serving, with amounts entered per capsule. Choose “Vegetarian capsule” in the format step to get hypromellose/pullulan shell suggestions instead of gelatin.

  • Per-capsule vs per-serving. If your serving is 2 capsules, enter actives per capsule and set 2 capsules per serving — the panel declares the per-serving totals.
  • Shell and excipients. The capsule shell, fillers and flow agents (for example microcrystalline cellulose, rice flour, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide) belong in Other ingredients, in descending order by weight.
  • Botanicals. Capsules often carry herbal extracts. On a US label, botanicals must identify the part of the plant (21 CFR 101.36(d)(1)); the generator flags any botanical without a plant part.
  • Column heading. For one-capsule servings you can use “Each Capsule Contains” instead of “Amount Per Serving” (21 CFR 101.36(b)(2)(i)(A)).

Worked example

Magnesium 100 mg per capsule, 2 capsules per serving → 200 mg per serving → 200 ÷ 420 × 100 = 47.6%, declared as 48%. Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) root extract 150 mg per capsule → 300 mg per serving, listed below the bar with “†” (Daily Value not established).
